384 share plans industry professionals descended on ProShare's Annual Conference in London on 3rd October. Estera's Brendan Dowling, Managing Director; Patrick Jones, Group Director; Paul Jeanne, Client Director; Craig Cameron, Associate Director and Emma Walker, Associate Director, Legal and Risk were part of the crowd.
The conference theme was 'Bridging Divides', as Gabbi Stopp, ProShare's Executive Director explained in her opening speech: "Employee share ownership started life as a means of bridging the divide between the owners of capital and the providers of labour. That the practice has evolved and endured to this day is testament to its power to align interests, and share success and wealth amongst those whose expertise and labour helped to create it."
The conference agenda contained topics as diverse as data visualisation, employee engagement, accounting for share-based payments, the role of employee directors, global share plans, and even social responsibility empowered through employee share ownership.
"It was a fantastic and well-attended conference with a broad range of topics and a strong focus on technology," said Emma Walker. "What was especially interesting were the discussions focused on the role ESOs can play in bridging divides, sharing best practices across teams, siloes, industries, geographies and employee share ownership-related disciplines."
Brendan Dowling added: "There was a great turn out across issuers, advisers and service providers, lots of familiar friendly faces and the sessions were creative and energising. We had a great day linking up with contacts across the sector and enjoyed the broad range of topics. The conference highlighted the dynamism inherent in the sector and recognised the important role this industry plays in creating wealth and introducing employees to share ownership and other financial products."
"Our approach at Estera is both pragmatic and collaborative - we work with our clients and their advisers to maximise the effectiveness of their incentive arrangements and enjoy close, long-standing working relationships with both our clients and advisers, the majority of our team have been working together for 15 years now in this fantastic sector."
