Estera Guernsey is working hard to ensure elderly and disabled residents receiving Community Nursing care in their own home will be given a Christmas present. The gifts are being distributed by Community Nursing as part of their homecare visits.

Estera coordinate gift collections at their own office and encourage many other local businesses to get involved. This year companies such as Healthspan, EFG Private Bank, Offshore Consulting, BDO, Appleby, First Central, Barclays, RBS International, Mourant, Julius Baer Bank, Terra Firma and Freelance have also collected gifts which will be given to elderly Guernsey residents.

Staff at local businesses were encouraged to donate to the appeal to make sure as many people as possible received something at Christmas. So far, the initiative has collected more than 650 parcels.

Mel Torode, Director of Estera Guernsey said “Staff at a wide range of local businesses have been incredibly generous. We are delighted that all the elderly Guernsey residents that receive community nursing care in their own home will receive one of these gifts. We have run this initiative for the last four years and each year are touched by the reaction of the people who receive the presents.”

The Christmas gifts were handed over to the Community Nursing team on Tuesday 18 December at 11am, at the Castel Hospital. They then distribute them to the people they visit over the Christmas and New Year period.
