Brian joined Estera (formerly Appleby) in August 2011 as Technical Director. He leads the firm’s focus on the aviation sector, offering clients a unique combination of aircraft ownership structures, EU importation and offshore aircraft registration services.

Before joining Estera, Brian was the Director of Civil Aviation for the Isle of Man, initially responsible for establishing an aircraft register for high-quality private and corporate aircraft. After forming the Isle of Man Civil Aviation Administration, he became the aviation regulator of the Island’s airport and airspace. Prior to this, he held seven senior operational management positions in the UK Civil Aviation Authority. These included Regional Manager in the Caribbean, Regional Manager of Manchester and Edinburgh, Regional Manager Gatwick, Lead Inspector for British Airways and for the final six years Head of the Flight Operations Inspectorate, responsible for the operating standards of all UK airlines.

Brian’s professional flying career started in 1978 as a flying instructor, quickly followed by a move into commercial flying. He was a training captain, type rating examiner and chief pilot.

He is a Liveryman of the Honourable Company of Air Pilots.

Brian was the winner of the Special Achievement Award at the Corporate Jet Investor awards in February 2012.
